  Round table "How to attract customers"
22 July 2008

The meeting took place at Istil company. The participants shared their experiences in attracting customers and shaping company’s clientele. Andriy Mudrievsky, Regional Director for the Eastern Ukraine of the Austrian Airlines, defined a number of principal factors influencing company’s clientele like company`s positive image, its social activity, loyalty programmes, special services and conditions for corporate customers as well as tailor-made approach to partners.

A representative of Avis stressed the importance of running partnership programmes between companies - providers of different services (renting a car, insurance, hotel services etc.) in order to meet clients’ needs. Concorde Capital’s employees said it is necessary to focus on a product not a company in the course of advertising campaigns. In conclusion the participants agreed that the most important thing is to understand that the clients are of great value and to love them.

  Round table Corporate Social Responsibility
16 July 2008

The meeting was organised by magazine Delovoy in the framework of the National Investment Forum Project. The participants shared their opinions concerning the role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) for effective management and CSR positive impact on society. Anatoliy Yakovets, Professor of Kyiv-Mohyla Journalism School emphasised the importance of cooperation between business, government and community. Also Mr Yakovets marked that national and local authorities should establish and introduce CRS standards and outline social problems for business community to tackle in the first place.

The representatives of Kyivstar and Philip Morris Ukraine presented CSR of their companies. They stressed that CSR in a modern company should be consistent with the organisation’s goal, mission and vision, be systematic (not one-time event), long-term one and focus on actual social problems. Svitlana Nemyro, Kyivstar PR-manager, said that CSR stands for responsible attitude towards products/services, clients, employees, partners, community. She noted that business success and prosperity of a company depends on its approach to corporate social responsibility.

The participants discussed methods and techniques of establishing long-term relations with clients. Svitlana Mykhailenko, Director of Kharkiv Branch of ASCA, outlined the following components of successful client relation policy: a wide range of services, introduction of innovative services, easy access to services, customer satisfaction evaluation and individual approach to each client (reminders to extend contracts, birthday greetings etc.).

Olena Sokolenko, General Manager of Aurora Premier Hotel, presented the Premier’s loyalty programmes Regular Guest Programme, Premier Awards Programmes and Premier Kids Club.

Andriy Mudrievsky, Regional Director for the Eastern Ukraine of the Austrian Airlines, acknowledged the need for a diversified strategy on building relations with clients. He stressed that the strategy should include not only loyalty programmes and advertising campaigns but also company’s positive image, its social responsibility, active participation in media projects and the most important thing – a good quality of company’s product and high level of clients' safety.
 


The main points of SA 8000, which is the European standard on CSR, were presented in the course of the meeting. The participants agreed that this standard should be cultivated Ukraine.

  HR Meeting with Mr Sokorchuk, the Chief State Labour Inspector of Ukraine in Zhytomyr oblast
22 July 2008

The meeting was held at the Zhytomyr Oblast Council. The participants discussed salary rise, salary indixation and implementation of labour legislation at companies.

Mr Sokorchuk spoke about the main offences discovered by labour inspectors. 3000 organisations have been examined in the last 2 years and labour offences were discovered at each company. Among usual major offences are illegal dismissal and salary arrears.

The participants raised many questions about enforcement of labour legislation at their companies. The parties agreed to hold a series of topical meetings.
 



According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine companies should pay all salary debts till August 1, 2008. At present the largest salary arrears are in agriculture. The average salary in the region is 1184 UAH, it is the 21st place among other regions.
