| HR Round table 12 June 2008 The meeting took place at the International House educational centre. Mrs Marianna Gavrilenko, Director of event agency Punsh, held a master class on Corporate Events. The participants discussed a number of corporate events like Reform Day, Creative Day, conferences and consultations. Consultation is rather a new but a very important tool, since it improves a company’s corporate climate. It enables an expert to share his knowledge with his less experienced colleagues in an informal atmosphere. Usually less experienced employees positively react to the corporate training course. |
Team Building Day is the most frequetntly held corporate event. A day under this programme inspires and motivates stuff to work more fruitfully within a period of 3-4 months. |

| Seminar "Innovative Infrastructure
as a competitiveness factor for Kharkiv oblast" 18 June 2008  The
seminar was organised at the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute by the
Embassy of the Republic Slovenia in Ukraine. The aim of the seminar
was to involve local companies in development of techno parks and
innovative clusters which would contribute to competitiveness of Kharkiv's
economy.Mr Yaroslav Yuschenko, Vice-Governor of the Kharkiv oblast, greeted the participants and the honorary guests Mr Milosh Prislan, Economic Adviser of the Embassy of Republic Slovenia to Ukraine, Mr Anatoliy Bondarenko, Honorary Consul of Slovenia to Kharkiv, Mr Valeriy Kravets, Vice-Rector of the Institute. Mr Eriñ Hansen, President of Economic Transformation Group, spoke of how clustering could be effective for regional economic development. Ms Tadeja Colnar, Consultant, INOA, presented a successful example of clustering in Slovenia. Aqua Party 19 June 2008  The
party was held at the Volna Aqua Park with support of the Pirana company.A presentation of brand-new training apparatus and a tour of the aqua park were made during the event. The EBA representatives with their families members had an opportunity to learn about new fitness trends and get individual recommendations; the programme included special entertainments for children. |
The participants shared their opinions on how to further develop the regional economy. |

| Working Group on Export &
Import 10 June 2008 Mr Puzyr, Deputy Head of Lviv Centre of Standardisation, Metrology and Certification took part in the meeting. The participants of the meeting discussed perspectives for recognition of results of foreign conformity assessment in Ukraine. Mr Puzyr informed that Ukraine signed the Treaties on bilateral recognition of results on conformity assessment only with CIS countries. He mentioned that the Treaties with other countries are to be signed till 2011 according to the WTO action plan. The Working Group members discussed the CMU Resolution on Procedure of Customs Clearance of the Goods Imported to Ukraine that Are Subject to Certification which comes into force on July 06, 2008. According to the CMU Resolution the investments to the Statutory Fund are due to certification. Starting from June 2008 the Centre launched the “single window” procedure to submit appeals and/or requests. Marketing Committee 11 June 2008  Mrs
Larysa Baranova, Sales and Marketing Manager of Austrian Airlines,
presented peculiarities of advertising campaigns the company organised
in Ukraine. Mrs Baranova noted that broadcast, the Internet and bill-boards
are the most effective advertisement tools attracting a greater number
of passengers.According to Mrs Baranova, advertisement campaigns should always introduce some new products. The participants emphasised benefits of the loyalty programmes for VIP passengers, which encourages permanent clients and provides them with bonuses. Mrs Baranova spoke of permanent agreements with legal entities, which offer special discounts, as one of the methods to raise sales. Meeting of the EBA Western Ukrainian Branch Board with Mr Zinkevych, Head of the State Tax Administration in Lviv oblast 18 June 2008  Mr
Zinkevych, newly appointed Head of the STA in Lviv oblast, stressed
that investors' support is very essential and assured the participants
that cooperation between the EBA and the STA will prove fruitful.
The EBA Branch Board emphasised some delays in VAT refund and Mr Zinkevych
promised to solve the problem. He also mentioned that companies should
pay corporate income tax in the amount of at least 1% of total income
in order to get VAT reimbursed in the shortest terms.The parties agreed: - to sign the Memorandum on cooperation; - to hold regular meetings of the Working Group on VAT Refund; - to organise joint media activities to promote legal employment; - to organise workshops, consultations, round tables. |
Mr Puzyr mentioned that the reference for goods which are not liable to certification are to be issued during one working day in case the application is made before 10:00 a.m. |

| On 4 July 2008 the Honorary
Consulate of Cyprus Republic in Ukraine jointly with the Marine Transport
Bank will host the conference on business and financial opportunities
of Cyprus. The conference will take place at the Golden Ballroom
of the Literature museum (2 Lanzheronovskaya St, the city of Odesa)

| Round table Investment Climate
in Odesa Region, within the framework of the V International Forum
on Investments and Innovations 5 June 2008 The meeting was arranged at the exhibition hall of the Odesa Trade Sea Port. Ms Olga Sadovska, Head of the Department of Economic, Investment Policy and Foreign Economic Activity of the Odesa City Council facilitated discussion. Mr Liptuga, Head of the EBA Southern Branch Board spoke about ehancing an investment climate and lobbying provided by the EBA for its members. . Mr Koshukov, Advisor to Local Economic Development Project (USAID) made a thorough analysis of barriers to investment existing on a local level. Among the problems investors currently face he mentioned stereotypes, inadequate legislation, institutional and organisational problems, poor public utilities, lack of a plan on the regional and state levels, lack of economic and financial interest from local communities. Therefore, it is necessary: 1. to stimulate cross sectoral cooperation; 2. to elaborate and implement strategic plans on economic development. 3. to create economic development departments; 4. to prepare lands plots for industrial construction. Mr Sergey Salienko, Head of the Project «Investnavigator», presented the plan of economic city zoning, with Odesa serving as an example. He underlined that it is necessary to introduce systems of legal zoning to minimise risks while dealing with real estate purchase and sale operations. |
